Moisture wicking
When the body gets warm, the merino wool conducts heat away by absorbing moisture from the body and allowing it to evaporate through its fibers. Merino wool can absorb up to 35% moisture of its own weight, without feeling wet or losing its temperature regulating properties. This is especially beneficial for the hot summer nights when the body releases moisture to maintain its core temperature.
Breathable
Merino wool is naturally breathable, and in fact one of the most breathable materials available. Merino wool is an active fiber that responds to changes in body temperature. In warm environments, wool feels twice as cooler to the skin than synthetic materials.
100% organic
We do not use chemicals or synthetic materials to make your junior summer quilt with merino wool. The junior summer duvet has a cover of 100% organic certified cotton. We use long wool fibers which are carded to create a light and airy summer quilt. We use only 100% natural and untreated merino wool, which is beneficial for the environment as well as for you who get the best and most natural junior summer quilt.
Antibacterial
We use 100% natural and untreated merino wool in our junior summer quilt. This means that we have not washed the natural content of lanolin out of the wool. The natural content of lanolin helps create an antibacterial environment in the merino wool, which house dust mites, bacteria and fungi cannot live in.
Summer duvet with down or wool?
There are several studies that show that both children and adults sleep better with merino wool! Studies show that newborn babies sleep quieter in merino wool and are less likely to wake up and cry during the night. But adults also enjoy sleeping with merino wool. Merino wool has significantly better temperature control properties than other materials such as down, which are often used for summer quilts. When choosing a good summer quilt, it is important to choose a quilt that is more regulatory than insulating.
As previously described, merino wool is one of the most breathable fibers available and is great for adjusting to your child's body temperature. When choosing a summer quilt with merino wool rather than a traditional summer quilt with feather or down, you will find that the summer quilt with merino wool is far better at adjusting to your child's core temperature. That's because a down comforter is more insulating than regulatory. When you get warm under the duvet, you will find that your down comforter gets damp. A feather or down comforter gets wet quickly when you sweat, as feathers and down absorb moisture. You will not experience this with a summer quilt with merino wool. The merino wool can absorb 35% moisture of its own weight without feeling damp.
