A Cocoon Peaceful Silk duvet is made from the finest untreated Mulberry Peace Silk, where the silk is harvested in the gentlest way possible, resulting in a truly unique silk quality. To preserve the natural silk fiber for many years, we do not recommend washing the duvet, not even when you first receive it.
With normal use, it is sufficient to air the duvet regularly in the shade and fresh air. Silk is naturally resistant to dust mites, which cannot thrive in a silk duvet.
If cleaning is necessary:
If an accident happens and cleaning is unavoidable, we always recommend professional dry cleaning. This is the most gentle and safest method, minimizing the risk of damaging the delicate silk fibers.
If you still wish to attempt a gentle hand wash or spot cleaning at home, please follow these instructions carefully:
How to hand wash or spot clean your silk duvet properly
• Always use lukewarm water at exactly 30°C. Neither colder nor warmer. Use the same temperature for both washing and rinsing, as silk fibers are sensitive to sudden temperature changes.
• Use a mild, enzyme-free detergent suitable for silk or wool.
• Gently wash by hand without pulling, twisting, or stretching the fibers or the duvet.
• After rinsing, gently press out the water. Do not wring. Roll the duvet and carefully squeeze out the water. Repeat until excess water is removed.
• Lay the duvet flat on an absorbent towel, preferably on a warm floor. Turn it regularly and replace the towels to ensure gentle and effective drying. When the duvet feels dry, you can drape it over a chair to remove the final moisture.
With proper care, a silk duvet can last for many years while retaining its comfort and function. If you have any questions, we are always here to help.
